Sprockets for Freight Conveyors — Heavy-Load Chain Drives for Industrial Transport

Freight conveyor sprockets drive the chain mechanisms that transport heavy goods, pallets, containers, and bulk materials through warehouses, distribution centres, ports, and manufacturing facilities. These sprockets must handle sustained heavy loads, frequent starts, and abrasive operating environments. We supply freight conveyor sprockets in ANSI #60–#120 and ISO 12B–24B with 4140 alloy steel, induction-hardened teeth, and split hub options for rapid field replacement.

Advantages / Working Principle

▶ Heavy-gauge teeth handle sustained pallet and container loads without deformation

▶ Split hub allows field sprocket replacement without removing chain — critical for 24/7 freight facilities

▶ 4140 alloy steel for shock loading from irregular freight placement

▶ HRC 40-50 hardened teeth + CNC precision + full traceability

Working principle: Drive sprocket on gearbox shaft engages heavy roller chain connected to pallet transfer slats, drag chain system, or belt drive mechanism. Converts motor torque into horizontal transport of heavy goods. Located at conveyor head shaft (drive), tail shaft (return), and along path (idler/tension).

Compatibility / Selection

Chains: ANSI #60–#120, ISO 12B–24B. OEM: Hytrol*, Dematic*, TGW*, SSI Schaefer* conveyor systems.

*Compatibility reference only.

Select: ❶ Chain pitch ❷ Shaft → bore/hub ❸ Teeth for speed ratio ❹ C45 indoor / 4140 heavy-duty / zinc outdoor ❺ Split hub if 24/7 maintenance access needed.

Installation / Troubleshooting

Install: LOTO → release tension → remove old → mount new (split hub = no chain removal) → align → tension 2–3% sag → lubricate → test at slow speed.

Issues: Chain riding teeth = worn sprocket (replace both). Vibration = misalignment or bore runout. Noise = dry chain (lubricate). Chain skipping = elongated chain + worn teeth (replace both).
