ANSI #40 Roller Chain Sprocket

ANSI #40 roller chain sprocket at 1/2 inch (12.7mm) pitch — the most widely used ANSI chain size globally. Designed for general-purpose industrial power transmission including conveyors, packaging, agricultural equipment, and manufacturing machinery. 1045 steel with hardened teeth. Simplex, duplex, triplex. ANSI B29.1.

Description

ANSI #40 Roller Chain Sprocket — The Most Widely Used ANSI Chain Sprocket

The #40 at 1/2 inch (12.7mm) pitch is the single most specified ANSI roller chain sprocket size worldwide. It covers approximately 40% of all industrial chain drive applications from light packaging machinery to medium-duty conveyor systems. We supply #40 sprockets in simplex (#40), duplex (#40-2), and triplex (#40-3) with tooth counts from 9 to 120 in A-plate, B-hub, C-hub, taper-lock, and QD bushed configurations.

FAQ

#40 vs #41?
#41 is a lightweight version of #40 with the same pitch but narrower plates and no rollers (bushings only). #40 sprockets are compatible with #41 chain but #41 sprockets should only be used with #41 chain.
#40 vs ISO 08B?
Both 12.7mm pitch but ANSI #40 roller is 7.92mm while ISO 08B roller is 8.51mm. Not interchangeable.
Taper-lock available?
Yes. #40 taper-lock sprockets available across the full tooth count range for rapid installation.
Cast iron #40?
Yes. Cast iron #40 for low-speed, high-torque applications where vibration damping is needed.
MOQ?
One piece. #40 is our highest-volume line with extensive stock for rapid dispatch.
